Time is a fickle lover.
She knew that best
because she was
the only one
who could stare
into his soul
piercing and precise
as he passed through mountains
and monuments
like a godly gust
pursuing "what's next"
on TV and newspapers
she was no Kali
no deity of time
just a humble woman
counting the seconds
counting the hours
counting the years
that boys and girls
kissed wrinkles
instead of each other
an unspoken vow to
be indigo
chasing the setting sun
or a melancholy man
on a train
and his poem.
Time breaks
the adorned
sculpted lines
and pretty faces.
Time fancied
her heart beat
at the same
rate as his.
